What is Contractors Liability?

Contractors’ Liability insurance provides coverage for contracting trades and their legal liabilities to employees and third parties arising out of the works being undertaken.

What does Contractors’ Liability cover?

The specific coverage of Contractions’ Liability can vary depending on the insurance policy, but typically it includes the following:

  • Employers Liability: Indemnity for legal liability to employees following an injury at work.
  • Public/products liability: Indemnity for legal liability to third parties arising out of injury or damage to property arising out of work undertaken or a product supplied.
  • Legal Expenses: Provides financial assistance to contractors for legal expenses relating to specific insured incidents. Helpline services are provided for a range of commercial legal issues affecting the business.

It is important to note that the specific coverage and exclusions can vary between insurance policies and providers.

Limits and Minimum Premiums

  • Premium start at £100 plus IPT* for Employers Liability
  • Premium start at £175 plus IPT* for Public Liability & Products Liability
  • Rating is based on wages and turnover
  • Suitable for risks involving height work up to 15m, depth work to 3m, and includes heat work
