What is Contractors All Risk Insurance?

Contractors All Risk Insurance is a specialist policy that offers coverage for physical loss or damage to the works being undertaken by the contractor.

It includes the ability to cover items of plant machinery, either owned by the contractor or hired in by them.

What does Contractors All Risk Insurance cover?

These are the main areas typically covered by Contractors All Risk Insurance:

  • Contract Works: Sudden and unforeseen physical loss or damage to the works being undertaken
  • Owned plant: Includes damage to plant and machinery owned by the insured whilst anywhere within the territorial limits
  • Hired in plant: Includes plant and machinery hired in by the insured providing cover where legally liable for damage anywhere within the territorial limits

It is important to note that the specific coverage and exclusions can vary between insurance policies and providers

Limits and Minimum Premiums

  • Premiums for Contract Works start at £375 plus IPT*
  • Premiums for Contractors Plant & Equipment start at £375 plus IPT*
  • Combined coverage minimum premium starting at £550 plus IPT*
  • Extends coverage for any single contract up to £3,500,000
  • Coverage available for owned plant assets up to £500,000
  • Coverage available for hired-in plant assets up to £250,000
